Spark plug question

I have a ls vtec tuned on Crome for gas milage and has a non vtec computer so no vtec.my question is my plugs are burnt color and I do get some pinging when I get on it alittle and was wandering if I need to get a hotter plug or is it my timing?any help would be appreciated

Do you mean a colder plug? A higher heat range plug will absorb more heat is known as a colder plug.


No, you dont need a colder plug. Maybe if you were making 250hp then I would suggest it but without vtec properly working I doubt it. I would talk to your tuner.

It seemed to help with response and I don't hear the ping anymore and yes I did talk to my tuner and he also built the engine so when I get the money for a new computer and tune I will definitely be calling him

Noir was tuned just for gas milage and the tuner said need to get it retuned with a vtec computer?

Question, why would you even bother doing the motor build if you didn't even have the right computer yet?
