Steam out exhaust

Okay so today I was driving to school and all of the sudden I looked out my rear view and saw a plume of steam and my temp gauge started going up. I pulled over and my coolant all got sucked threw my exhaust and out as the steam cloud. Immediately I thought it was a head gasket but there isn't any coolant in my oil and I recently had a water pump changed and thought that might be the culprit. Any help or ideas as to what it might be???

headgasket doesnt mean that the coolant always goes into the oil too, it can break just into the water gasket also.

I'd go home and do an oil change and double check to make sure there's no coolant in there too tho... only way for coolant to get into your exhaust is thru the engine. =/
