Hi everyone,
Well, I sure have learned a lot about this little car. I actually have it running pretty good. Two frustrating conditions remain that I am at a loss for a solution. The first, my idle is rough with no obvious source of vacuum leak. I have a vacuum gauge, and it measures around 16 Hg with a slight tremor in the needle. Seated the FITV, cleaned the IACV, cleaned the throttle body, checked the pcv, all hoses, etc. Still, rough idle, shaking steering wheel, the usual, I am sure.
Secondly, and more disturbing, on cold mornings, which still includes now up here in frosty New England, the car will start and run fine, but my first mile or so, the transmission will NOT shift out of first gear. I have tried varying my acceleration, etc, nothing. Something, when cold, will not send the signal to shift into second. I just got done pulling the shift solenoid assembly off, to inspect. Screens are clean, and electrical connections good.
