stuck oil filter

hey, so im mid oil change right now, and i cant get the damn filter off for the life of me. ive tried a strap wrench, and some kinda special oil filter wrench, and our filters are in such a damn tight spot i cant get it. Anyone know what to do?

I'm sure stab if with a screw driver will be an option

I switched to K&N filters, they have a nut welded on the back. Think ours are 1004

yea, I hear that! If you dont care for a lil mess... do the screwdriver in the filter route! g/l

This happens half the time because its tightened on way to much.

im sure u know this but i am going to say it ne wayz, when u put the new filter on, put a little oil around the rim of it ;)

does this really make a difference compared to other oil filters?

jznsn2u, use those muscles i did, and i got it off haha. Thats the last time my mechanic will do an oil change on my car. That was ridiculous.

And thanks everyone for the pointers. I did use the oil on the rubber gasket trick, and i also used a k&n gold series filter with the wrench-off bit.
