Time for an oil change?

Hey guys, quick question. I'm about 1500 miles over 3000 on my current oil. I'd say I've put about 1.5-2 quarts in over the space of a few months. I guess I've never noticed before, but is it normal for the engine to sound a little valvey? Not super loud, but it just sounds like it needs some clean oil in it. Kind of a n00b question but I got kinda of paranoid about it :lol:

If you're using synthetic oil, going over 3K miles isn't a problem. If your valves are ticking, you should probably adjust them.

can you describe the sound? take a vid of it so we know what your talking about?

and why on earth would you not change your oil at the 3k mark? are you using synthetic i hope?

ya i use synthetic blend. it's not ticking at all, just sounds a little off from what it normally does. it doesn't burn oil, but when i hit vtec and high speeds it'll consume some.

If it's not ticking, then it's not your valves. B-Series VTEC engines then to burn a little oil over time. It's normal.

cool. it gets like this every time i need an oil change and i always pysch myself out about it :lol:

luckily, at my work, i can get a full synthetic for about $20.00. next step is taking my intake filter off and cleaning that bad boy out, it's flipping nasty.

dino oil will usually go past 3k miles not that I do that but it has been proven time and time again. My air cleaner has a sticker on it that recommends 7500 mile intervals for oil change and i'm sure thats not using synthetic.
I personally run synthetic and still change it every 3000 miles but i'm a little anal on maint.
