Transmission fluid?

Ok so I have a 97 LS and I need to know if I can use transmission fluid or if I have to use gear oil.

5 speed or auto? If 5 speed get genuine Honda manual transmission fluid from Honda if auto get your preference of ATF

ive used penzoil syncromesh and might try royal purple mtf or redline, but you cant go wrong with genuine honda mtf. :thumbs up

And why is that? Its all just oil with different additives. After I switched to amsoil I'll never go back to Honda mtf.

i use amsoil as well. Holds up longer for me.
