Im going to first point out that im not much of a mechanic, meaning i know little in how to fix my car. sure i could google stuff, but im sure its better to come here.
I feel there are so many problems with my 89 integra. everytime i go on the highway, doing 70, it goes to almost 4th gear, and I feel the car struggling to go faster. Someone may know what the problem might be? im planning on taking it to a mechanic, get a check up on it, but i dont want to go in not knowing anything about the car and what the problem might be.
i also wanted to fix the a/c which doesnt work, all it does is blow hot air. may not be the time of year to fix the air conditioning, but im the type of person that needs everything up and running...
Anyhelp would be nice with just the two questions I asked :???: just the a/c and the car struggling to switch gears when going on the highway

It sounds like it needs a basic tune up, Plugs, wires, Air filter, dizzy cap, fuel filter, I would also get the mechanic to compression test it.

How many miles does it have on it?

Not bad, Shouldn't be compression related then, Tune up would be my guess.

heh, Sorry I'm not very useful right now, I'm half asleep.

Could also be your used to a faster car with more power. A car that old definitely needs a tune up however it still won't see great acceleration ...ever. Most especially at 70.

Sounds like compression. Go to an empty spot, put one foot on the brake and stomp the gas, it shouldn't stall or almost stall. If it does, you have a problem

Buy a used d16 with 40k-80k miles for 800$ with shipping and problem solved.

Goes to fourth gear?.. Is an automatic? because if your doing 70 you shouldnt be in 4th gear unless its an automatic, then you shouldnt be doing 70. Lol. The a/c just bring to a specialist to tell you whats wrong. If it needs a recharge, do it yourself. If it needs something else, have them do it. Might even be worth pulling out and saving yourself the weight.
