Vacuum in middle of intake manifold

I am confused (not hard to do I know). In removing the intake manifold on my B18A1, there was a very tough plastic line on the bottom of the manifold that ran to a valve(?) in the middle of the manifold. It then continues on to the throttle body.

My problem is this: I broke most of the bottom of the valve unit off removing it and will need to replace it. What is it and how to remove it? I'm just not finding it in my service manual.

Sounds like you're referring to the PCV. if it's attached to the 3rd cylinder runner close to the head, then it's that. Otherwise, a photo would be resourceful.

3Axis got it. I thought it might be the PVC but it just didn't look right in the diagram.

That, is a very helpful link. And it's free to!

Update. Lots of black crap inside the intake. Looks like one of the injectors was spraying poorly and the lower seals were leaking. Will pressure wash the intake and once the head is pulled, do a mild valve job on it. Lots more wrenching to do this one.
