What's the problem with my RPM?

The clip shows what happen when i start the car. is it not getting enough fuel? My car died on me yesterday as i was coming to a stop but i just start it up again and drove off.

it rpm gauge flicks up and down when the car starts up. This morning it flicks up and down for 5 second then my engine just turn off. i started up again and same thing happen. as the engine warms up the rpm gauge became steady.

I also agree that the problem is distributor related. The cam/crank sensor or the ICM in the distributor.

I would expect a CEL from this though, especially when the engine shuts off.

Is the idle jumping around or is the gauge just jumping around?

You can hear the engine tone changes when the gauge dips. I think whatever causes the tach to dip is causing the engine to stumble also.

But I dont think the tach is just a read out of the actual engine rpm as it swings too fast.
