Would stuck Thermostat Keep fan switch from energizing?

That's the question. I'm guessing you figured it to be a cooling problem. Jumpered the thermoswitch while running after overheating but temp didn't come down. Fan doesn't energize on it's own after a thermo switch replacement. Would a stuck thermostat trap air and keep the switch from activating. Obviously I know it would overheat the motor.

I see engine numbers around here but not sure on that. It's a '93RS with the 1.8L

Thanks.

Looking for my next Teg..
stuck thermostat would be behind overheating, but should have no influence over the fan switch. a stuck thermostat only blocks the engine's ability to allow water to dump to the radiator. for rapid cooling.under high temps.

I'd check the fan switch or the ECT nalso to verify you are getting proper readings to the control unit.
