Distributor need a gasket?

as some of you all know i am currently repairing my car since the theft and recovery
...


i now have the distributor but i am not sure if i need a gasket to mount it .. i got the bolts, the wires, the cap, the plug wires and the distributor .. do i need a gasket?

To the best of my knowledge you do need a gasket. It prevents water from getting in there and shorting things out. I have not done a tune up on my teg yet so i dont know if there is one there.
