Testing/troubleshooting Door Sensor Switch?

Well, I get the typical strobe lighting while driving if I leave my dome light in the door sensing position. It kind of sucks living in eternal darkness though when I get in and out of my car. Would especially be nice to take advantage of the LED I put in there. Is there any way I could test to see if its just the switches mounted on the door, or if it might be anything else?

I get the alarm when I have my keys in the ignition and open my door, however the light on my gauge cluster doesn't turn on. And when I put it on door sensing mode it'll sometimes turn off I I try to hold the door extra shut. Is there any way I could adjust where the switch is mounted to make it more sensitive to being shut? Or should I just try replacing them? I got some at a junkyard. Can I clean the contacts and do some sort of resistance test or something?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
