Well we took the valve cover off and got a better look. Turns out it was the base of the ignition wire that broke off. Just had to scoop it out and it was all good.

Okay well I opened up the remote. The brass pad for the battery contact was worn down, so we repositioned the tab and it works good as new. Thanks!
