Problem is... if those bikes are getting cheaper... then F4's will be as well

Not completely true... Problem with Buell's, especially the Rotax powered 1125, is that Harley dealers didn't want to touch them when they were new. 7 years after the shutdown, you'll have a hard time finding anyone that isn't a Buell specialist (like my mechanic) or an EBR dealer that would be willing to work on the damn thing.

Not a huge problem since EBR is building a dealer network again, but it could be a pain for someone that isn't in the loop. (Regular person on CL)

Even when my XB blew up, I took it to a really well know shop up the road (known around the country) that makes big bore kits, and tunes Harley/Buell's turned me away saying that they "don't work on Buell's anymore". As they have two sitting in their garage.

Whereas Honda still exists with a major dealer network and still makes parts for bikes as far back as the Z50.... Plus it's a Honda, it'll at least hold a few thousand in value

And broke fuckers like me

Maybe they'll stay that way, or continue to decline for a little while. I do wanna ride the F4 for a bit, maybe put back 1-2k so when I sell it I'll have room to buy a new bike and not end up with a piece of shit again.

Figure if you stash away 12-1500 and sell that turd of an F4 for only 1800. You could find a decent XB or 1125 for under 4k. :what:

Then you can always nitpick about something and knock off a little bit more :rolf:

I can't do that... I've had too many cheap fucking hicks nitpick bikes I had listed for less than 1200 and it pisses me the fuck off even thinking about it

I figure if I continue to clean and fix things, get the bodywork sorted so it has a nice clean paint job I should be able to get 2500-3k out of it, then another 1500-2k to get me in the clear 4500 range, I should have no problem finding a damn clean, decently low mile bike that I can just ride and keep maintained until it blows the fuck up, or I crash it :rolf:

Pretty much. I honestly prefer when a bike needs tires because they usually have some shitty dunlops or something when you get them

Probably the original Pirelli's still on there.

But you can get the set of Michelin's like I have for under $250/set.

I like pilot road 3's for the most part, but there's some others I can't think of off the top of my head that were decent.

Pilots are like $290 a set though.

I got Pilot Road 2CT's from Rocky Mtn ATV for like 230 shipped. Think they might have been having a special on Michelin, but even off sale they're like 250-260 for the set.

I've read about another XB owner having a set of PR 2CT's last 17k miles. Keep in mind that XB's normally burn through a rear tire in 4-5k miles, and a front in 8-10k.

Not bad.

Though usually in my experience longer lasting tires are harder, and thus sketchier in anything other than sunny 80+ degree weather.

I've actually got caught in the rain multiple times... Hated life at the time, but never felt sketchy about the tires losing grip. Remember that they're dual compound tires like the PR3, both of which are on the right.

If I remember right from when I was shopping for tires, the recommendations for the XB were Pilot Power 2's for sport, Road 3's for longevity and 2's for the same but with better wet grip.... Seeing as FL rain is unpredictable as hell, I went with 2's :rolf:

I don't ride aggressive enough to need them, and I really didn't want to spend $180 every 4K miles.
