Alright, so a coworker's husband has this bike in his garage. I have no idea what it is, but the decal said R6..I'm thinking its a yamaha r6?? Anways the bike doesn't run. They have no idea what's wrong with it. She said her husband only rode it for a week.

So I offered to buy it and she said she'd talk it over.

Now the questions:

1) What is it worth in its current state?
2) What is it worth once it runs?
3) Does Yamaha make a good sport bike?
4) would it be easy to resell?
5) Where would be the best online recource/forum for DIY's and parts?

Help me out here. I have no idea when it comes to motorcycles. I can fix just about anything and I got a lot of free time and space.

Note: I have no intention of keeping it. I don't have a motorcycle endorsement and I really don't want to get one. I have 40 acres for test driving so no need for actual road use.

If it says r6 and it's a sportbike it's a Yamaha, They're good bikes when they have been taken care of.

No way of saying what it's worth without knowing what year it is and the problem.

My advice, Steer clear, It could be a simple issue or it could be completely done, r6's are the most abused sportbikes out there so who knows how bad it could be.

You'll most likely lose money either way, After all sparkplugs alone generally cost $60~

Lol my dad was like trying to convince me to buy a cbr.... He's like trying to tell me to buy one right now while they're cheap and turn around and sell it in summer. I kept saying there's no way i'm buying a cbr because i'll never sell it in the summer i'll keep riding it. Lol

Cheap my ass lol

People are greedy with bikes no matter what time of year it is, Especially with it nearing tax time.

Shiit they're getting cheaper or they're at low prices right now, 2006-2007's 600rr's are going for like 3k and 1000rr's around 4500 average. Saw a 2010 1000rr mint condition 7k miles for 6k

This is kinda disheartening to hear :(
I mean if the engine is DONE a used one is around ~$750 a quick search on craigslist had R6's going for ~$3500 (Not that they actually sell for that). Basically I'd have to get it for dirt cheap...which I feel won't happen.

Also....$60 spark plugs?!? Da Fuq?

I mean if you're looking for a project and you're down for a little risk you could go for it, R6s in my area go for 4-7k depending on the year, Have a pic of it?

I would for sure steer clear if it's carbs instead of fuel injection though, Not many people want those unless they're desperate for a bike and they only go for 2-3k.

Haha I'll have to check that video out some time.

New paint, new tires, new reflective wheel strips, new frame sliders, and got some heated glove liners :D. Last thing to do is vinyl that white part on the tank.

K6

I hope you plan on keeping the stock exhaust, I love the k6 600/750 muffler.

If not you gotta go either arrow or akrapovic.
