ok so im a little stuck. and want to see what others think on what car to get. so vote plz.

-now the rx7 will require alot of TLC because those are finiky engines.

-the old 2.5 rs will get a sti swap sooner or later.

-new 2.5 rs will also get a sti swap but thatll wait for the warrentee

-a 3000gt is a hard find.

-keeping the teggy means new paint job needed and manual swap so ($$$)

-keep saving for an evo means 1/2 year plus driving the slo-gomatic teggy :(

im leaning toward the rx7. but reg maitnance for a year gets close to $1k. and an engine rebiuld means 2k, they can go easyly. but after the first time it goes im gonna upgrade apex seals and port it and new seals all over. so blowing it will be hard to do

get a newer 2.5 RS and swap a 5th gen STI motor or if you wanna take a lil harder rout do a EJ20TT and guarenteed you will own any STI out thier. I go to Nasioc meeting up here cuz alot of my buddys own WRX and WXR STIsa dn one of our buddys has a 00' 2.5 RS w/ a EJ20TT swap and he blows away all the stock STIs and he can even beat a stage 2 02 WRX.

i personally if i had my choice would be to get a evo i have friend out here that is putting down close to 400 whp and its totally sleepered out, i think they are by far one of the sexist and fast production cars you could ever own....

Even though its a four door, id say the Evo. (i dont like 4 doors much) You can Haul the Family and The Groceries, and still put out over 270hp!

RX7 isn't good for a daily driver.....too much maintenance and up keep. great if you have a daily though

STi swap into an RS is expensive unless you go without the 6 speed but the 5 speed is too weak. the 6 speed swap requires all 3 LSD, all four hubs and axles, driveshafts, clutch and electronics to do with the ACCD

Evo FTW

here is a swap outline for the EJ20 or EJ25 into the RS. its a pain in the ass, i've seen it done. i love the 98 2dr RS though. its the best body style

i agree it can be a bad DD. but if certain mods are done and its treated right then it is fine. the cars are unreliable due to people neglecting them. the big plus for this car is rarity i mean u dont ever see this car. it handling cant be touched. and its sleek design is as timeless as the supra.

yes its a wiring nightmere for the swap. thats what stoping me from that

you put down 300whp (can be done very easly) in a rx7 and it will eat that 400whp evo (power-to-weight). and 300whp can be done on stock exhaust so its quiet sleeper (as much as a rx7 can be a sleeper). you see i see the rx7 on a classlyness level as the nsx(looks like a true exotic sports car), and it has the same eye catching ability. 4 doors is a big plus for the evo though as well.

but if i got the rx now and continued to save (just keeping the rx stock and safe running). i could still get the evo in about a years time. not to mention if the rarity of the rx will go up so it will accrue (new f&f movie means rich boys see car and want). so i think i can do both. and just incase mabye ill get a $400 junker civic. i dunno. anymore thoughts

the RX7 is great. i had an FC TURBO II and its was fun as hell. its just hard to find FD that has been treated right and doesn't need a new engine.....despite the fact that just about every single one has had the engine replaced atleast once. to do it right would be to build the rotary right off the bat. 3mm apex seals, new o-rings, all new hoses and vaccuum lines, ditch the crappy stock twin sequential turbo setup, and build a good cooling system.

for the price of a new 2.5 RS you could find a used s2k if you want to stay with honda. get something RWD or AWD.........

thats the plan (minus replacing right away) and ill keep the twins. i have a big ass list of little impovements, fuel, ignition, turbo timer, cooling, accurate gauges. i also have a list of quite a few tests to help me determine the overall health of the car. ive been reading the hell out of rx7club.com

its an awesome car if done right. first mods: bigger intercooler, bigger oil cooler, bigger radiator, new thermostat, and best gauges money can buy

also watch out for older engines. there is a little rubber o-ring behind the rotors that get dry out and crack as they get old. they are basically the equivalent of a head gasket as they hold coolant out of the combustion chamber. they don't let much pressure out when they are worn so its hard to tell a loss of power. but if coolant is slowly disappearing or you can smell it in the exhaust then it will require a rebuild.
