b18b1 or a B20 will work.

Why do you want to swap your engine? is there something mechanically wrong with your current engine that justifies buying and swapping a whole other engine?

so because your idle sucks you want to change the entire engine for an engine that really isn't much better than what you got because your options are severely limited by having an automatic tranny?

If it's minor stuff, work it out and fix it.

You don't adjust the idle screw on these cars. :smackself:

That's all controlled by the IACV, and the ECU via the primary o2 sensor.

No fucks given.
I don't care about vtec at this time..just point to me what engine i can get with my stock trans.. Thank you man

Let's look at factory power ratings of non-VTEC engines...

90-93 B18A1
Rated at 130hp

94-01 B18B1
Rated at 142hp

95.5-98 JDM B20B (low compression)
Rated at 126hp

99-00 JDM B20B (high compression)
Rated at 146hp

97-98 USDM B20B (low compression)
Rated at 126hp

99-00 USDM B20Z (high compression)
Rated at 146hp

As you can see, even the most powerful non-VTEC engine isn't much more than what's in your car now... Also take note that these ratings are at the crank, NOT the wheels. Any power you gain from swapping to a different engine, you won't feel due to the auto trans.

Your best bang-for-the-buck swap is going to a 5sp swap.

Lifters sound is loud think oil still won't work plus time to upgrade the motor

I dunno if you can call it an upgrade but okay.

I'd rather rebuild the engine than buy one to swap in that has no more potential than the current engine, that way I know what I've got.

Btw there aren't any lifters in the b18a1. :rolf:
