Acceleration problems

So I installed a new distributor and I did the timing and everything's good except one thing. Every time I put the car in gear and try to go it feels like it's holding back then when it gets to about 1500 to 2000 rpm it pulls like normal or when I rev the car, the idles at 800rpm and when I go to rev it, it kinda makes a weird noise then once it's over 1000rpm it will rev like normal . Any ideas why it's holding back

Double check the timing.

I had a shop double check the timing and they said it's good but it's still got problems picking up. Like when I'm in 3rd gear and try to pull on to an on ramp it holds back then pulls

I can't put my finger on it but maybe its a fuel delivery problem? Was this happening at all before you replaced those parts? Why did you replace the distributor?
