I don't agree with this. Of course a cold air intake sucks in colder air than a short ram, the filter is outside the engine bay. On a short ram, the filter is right next to the engine. The air right next to the engine is going to be hotter than in front of your FP tire. What IS true is that once the car is in motion, the air under the hood will be comparable in temperature to the air in front of your FP tire, and at that point the advantage of the CAI is gone.

ok, so a short ram intake stays close to the engine and the cold air intake goes out of the engine bay. like just behind the bumper?

Right. The filter for the AEM CAI ends up right behind your passenger side corner lens, and in front of your passenger side wheel well.
