ARE auto and manual starter different?

ok well im am considering buy a 94 ls integra parts car,
because the starter on my 98 gsr is messing up...
Will the starters be the same or are they different?
Thanks any help will be appriciated, also if i get the car i will be parting it out.

I think manual starters are different. Ricky mentioned that b20 starters are different, and they are all autos.

The starter on a manual spins the flywheel. I don't know how the starter works on a manual, but there sure isn't a flywheel to be spun.

I did an auto to manual swap and I can guarantee 100 percent that an auto starter will not fit a manual tranny.

well mine wants to click all the time and if you keep at it long enough it decides to finally kick over. wouldnt that be the seliniod? would i be able to swap it off the auto starter?"

won't fit...Just buy a rebuilt one for cheap or get yours rebuilt. Most Tranny places will provide this service.
