Before pulling the trans, I would first try to find a writeup on adjusting the cable. I have a 3rd gen and so am not much help there. If you are certain it is adjusted correctly, then I would inspect your shifter bushings. With it in gear, how much side to side play is there. If it is excessive, this could make it difficult to get into gear. If both these items check out, its time to pull the trans, imho. I'm going to guess that there is an issue with either the throwout bearing or the pressure plate itself.

yeah its not the cable and shifter bushings wouldnt just go out while im driving it lol, ill have to get one of my honda buddies to look at it closer, ill update when i figure out the problem.

Fucked up shift forks, low fluid, internal damage. Those are my next thoughts
