Dash lights

When I turn the ignition to on the engine check light comes on
But it will not cut off ( this is without turning the engine over ).
I have read on this website that it should cut off after a couple of secs.
If that is so then what is wrong with my car.
I have been having problems cranking my 90 DA.
Please help.

So does the car run or not? You need to interpret the CEL if it's displaying a legit light.

The car was running, now it will just turn over but won't crank.
I guess my question is... Is the cel light sopose to stay on while the key is on ON or cut back off after a couple of seconds.
( with the key positions at ON not actually cranking the car over.

pull bck your passenger carpet and look for a blinking red LED... count the number of long & short flashes... that is the trouble code you need to pull.

Also you may want to check your main relay. te CEL should illuminate for a couple second and be followed by an audible click. That clikc is the main relay... no click with solid CEL would indicate a main relay issue.
