Already failed at Air-Care.

I need to find the solution to my high HC readings (3x above allowable... although they should be better now that its tuned... good enough - I don't know)

Today drove it to a shop and coming off the hwy engine breaking at high rpms (5,000) for a few seconds - check engine light came on.

They are looking at it - will let you know what they say.

Hi Avocado
A friend of mine had the same problem with a new cat. He changed it out for a different cat and problem was gone. High HC is a bad cat.

Solution Found

Conclusion:

Changed the IAC valve which eliminated the idle hunting, but still failed Air-Care.

Took it to a shop that a friend recommended.

They found that the timing belt was installed off by one tooth (brutal). I'm lucky I didn't cause more damage (detonation)... but I did drive it lightly in the lower RPM's so that it would not make that ping/scratch noise.

They also cleaned my injectors and said the oil was like sludge (only 2000km in!) so they flushed it.
