I might be blind but I can't believe no one said this yet, DO NOT use power (or air) tools when putting the lug nuts on. I have a socket that I use for nothing except my lugs. I have Skunk2 lug nuts and they have been on and off countless times and have 0 scratches. I use a crack back and the socket to take them off and a torque wrench with the same socket to put them on. The lugs and socket has yet to see and kind of power or air tools.
If you're using muscle, then I would consider getting 1 good socket and using it for nothing but lugs. That should help.
