If you turn one cam more than the other can this effect how your timing is lined up? Mine will not line up right. Which valves are supposed to be closed...

Check your bottom timing cover. It could have dropped in there. Even if you get a new one, you don't wanna risk leaving that keyway down by the crank pulley.

Also maddog, if you pull the distributor towards the front of the car, you advance the timing. This means the spark happens earlier. Be care ful when you do this, its causes a lot more stress on the motor. If you have a high mileage motor I wouldn't do this

Hmmm. Check your distributor and make sure the ignition rotor is tight and not wobling around. I had to replace mine last week. Broken talon, you just gave me an idea. If the intake cam is 180 off, do you just turn it one full revolution to get it back on? Or only 180? My timing is off a little...

Yea well I got the tensioner bolt loose with some strip sockets from o reillys. Ur right. So I'm just gonna rip off the crank pulley while I got the motor dropped and replace the tensioner.

You guys aren't gonna believe this shit. So I put the dist. On and it cranks up. Well as I'm tighting shit on, I realize the timing belt is a little loose. Do I go to tighten the tensioner and it strips the bolt. Gotta get some strip sockets and a tensioner bolt now. Wtf.

Ok so the ignition rotor is very loose and it has a lot of play in it. Also the does seem to be like some very thick feud in the bottom of the dizzy cap. Looks too thick to be oil. If it is leaking oil tho, is there a cure for this without laying down 100 + on a rebuilt distributor? Next...
