5 "alligator" or "Mississippi" cranks about 7 times EDIT: and now I feel stupid...I just realized I didn't have the throttle open....back to the garage

The numbers where posted in a previous thread. If I remember correctly all cylinders were below 140 on the dry, and SIGNIFICANTLY higher on the wet test. It smokes when accelerating somewhat-hard. Not giving it hell, but accelerating onto the highway. Doesn't smoke at idle, just smell the oil.

So just to clarify, you think it's my valve guides AND my rings? Obviously that's an educated guess, but I just want to make sure that you don't think it's the valve guides themselves. P.S. that may sound sarcastic as you read it, and I'm not trying to be.

Sorry for bumping an old thread, but I hate posts that have no solutions. With that being said, I think I may have solved my problem. I feel dumb now, but replaced my fuel filter and my car seems to be getting the power it should and it started strong once I did- granted it was a warm start...

Yeah, it's covered up. I ran into the same problem, but that's good now.

It's brand new but I don't remember the brand I got...it wasn't universal though. I fixed my exhaust leak, that helped out a lot...but didn't fix the problem

It's been a minute so I figured I'd give an update. Mainly just working on fixing the body still, and fixed my exhaust leak. The front is primed, but not necessarily done, but almost ready for paint
