The true Ducati's ended with the 999. Not to say I don't still like them, but the classic old hand built tube frame, dry clutch, thumper L-twin, Italian Ducati's no longer exist, BMW has their bikes, so Audi/Volkswagen/Lamborghini needed a big brand to compete... obviously they couldn't do it alone so they just bought one of the "finest" and "most refined, prestigious" motorcycle brands they could. :lol:
