How do you feel about K-series motors?

maybe its just me, but i think it might make more sense to just buy a rsx type-s.....i mean by the time you do the swap you can spend more, and buy the car it came in too...then work on bolt ons, and other stuff later...but thats me...

I love a b motor but I will agree that the k has really out done the b. I still like the power curve on the b better but the k is a more technologically advanced motor and can easily make more power. Still the b will hold it's ground for the most part if built correctly.

You guys can't feel guilty about buying an older car with an older motor and be upset that it's slower. It's always going to be that way, eventually honda will come up with something better and leave the k in the dust, that's how these things work. I loved my S15 in my 88M3 but the newer S50 motor would leave it in the dust, but I would still take the S15 because that motor was built with passion and enthusiasm not math and science.

well put guys. it just feels weird being around b's ever since i was young.. always wanting one. then buying a gsr, then having all these monster k builds everywhere. i guess i should just take this in stride and be happy having something i've always wanted. not everybody can say that...

some day i'll have a k, until then, i'll be practical and worry about what i/h/e i should get for my gsr. i'm pretty sure my wallet will thank me.

For the amount of time and money it will cost you to swap a K-series you can have a badass B-series that will leave a K-series sitting still.
but potential wise the K leaves the B sitting still.
About 10 min from my house is my buddys shop with an 800whp B-series civic sitting in the garage that might disagree so......B>K
but any who if i had an rsx i would build a K. the k is a bad ass motor no doubt but the price ugh.
i still all comes down to what you want if you want the 300hp all motor car you should go k . if you want the k just to have a k then go K but if you want 400hp its cheaper to build your B.
sorry i could probably go into to more detail and examples yada yada yada but im feeling lzy

;)

look all motor wise your comparing a 2.0l to a 1.8l that's why it makes more power. Also the head flows more air, so bore your b to 84mm, there's your 2.0l, now port the head and swap the cams and your faster than a K series. It's going to be just as hard to get 300hp out of a K20 than it is a 2.0l B series. The 300hp n/a builds that are common are running the 2.4L bottom end, yea there is more room to bore the k and stroke the k so if your going all out the K is more expandable making it able to be more powerful but once again a well built b will run with a well built k for the most part. If you go into turbos, like winki said, b or k it doesn't matter, it all comes down to the turbo and tune.
