How big wheels/tires can I put on 99 gs

16's are the largest most people go. With 17s you'll almost certainly rub.

I third this.

I had 17s can't remember what size tires but they were very low profile. And I'm lowered almost 2 inches and didn't rub. IMHO the bigger the tire the more of a chance you will knock a large dent in that rim. Get some 15s I like OEM wheels. Meshies, blades, si's, or some nice diamonds.

you can run 17s with a 255 with the right suspension.

There are many factors that come into play here rim size/tire size/camber/offset etc.
I ran the same setup as above 205/40/17. Although I agree that it was a horrible ride, i never had any rubbing issues and my tires were tucked w/ stock control arms
