what kind of camera do you use?

So like the title says. I'm looking into buying a dslr and I'm curious what other people on here are using to snap pics of their integra and other general random awesomeness. I know there's a DSLR photography thread but there's a ton of pages and you're not quite sure what kind of camera was being used for the pictures.
Let's try this:

-Make
-Model
-Price paid
-Favorite picture with said camera
-Lens used
-Why you bought that specific camera

Not a M0derator
Sony Nex5 bc I wanted a smaller, lighter camera than a SLR so I went with a MILC.
Downside is the lens mount is proprietary so the options are limited but they make adapters.

most cameras have proprietary bayonet mounts. Canon with canon, nikon with nikon, i think sony can use minolta lens mounts though.

The other asshole
Nikon D3100
Price paid: $460 in 2013, I think it's $360 now
Lenses:18-55mm VR kit lens (included with camera) & 50mm 1.8g ($160, but I got a good deal from someone who barely used it)

Don't exactly have any favorite shots but here's some examples of the stock lenses capability:

You can find more stuff here: https://www.flickr.com/photos/machineguneddie/

I bought it because I knew very little about DSLR's and the people I trusted the most said the d3100 was a solid camera to start with, which it is.

However, I'd say go with Canon or Sony, Canon has L lenses, Sony has more compact cameras like the RX100 if you're looking for mirrorless

If I went back and spent around what I did I would've gone for the t3i or the t2i, The d3100 is great but I personally don't really like Nikon's lens selection.

Here's mine, I put a battery grip on it because I have large hands, it's not really as small as it looks though it is a smaller dslr.

-Make
---Nikon
-Model
---D3200
-Price paid
---initial, prob $700ish?? With all the additional lens and accessories, probably $1,200ish
-Favorite picture with said camera
---too lazy to post  but look at my Flickr if interested ;) https://m.flickr.com/#/photos/98974473@N05/
-Lens used
---35mm prime lens (Nikon brand); wide angle lens (forget the manufacturer but it begins with a T I believe)
-Why you bought that specific camera
---most bang for the buck and it's a good starter. If you want to seriously get into photography, save up for a full frame one but if you want to buy mine so I can let me know, lol.

Also, photoshop elements is only $100 for the full software and it is very forgiving and has helped the quality of my pics dramatically.

I've got like 40 cameras so I'll go with ones I use regularly from newest to oldest. They're all Sonys though, I've been using them since the Mavica back in the 90s, I love Sony, I think they have a brilliant tech department that never stops pushing their limits. Also I had used Minolta before and had some lenses, since they bought Minolta's lens technology I've stuck with them. But really it doesn't matter what camera you have, just about anything can take a great picture.

Just bought this so I haven't used it much.

Damn Aussie id say ur sony $700 Dollar one is the best outta ur photos...lol just shows you don't need a 3000 camera to do the photo justice. Just need to know ur surroundings and how to use the camera to the fullest.

Nah that camera sensor isn't that great, I think I used it for that shot to utilize live view at the time. The A900 sensor at low ISO is the best I've used in terms of dynamic range and color depth, well worth the $3000 (IMO it's better than the D800). But unless you're shooting portraits or products with some serious gradients, there's no need for it. Lighting and subject matter make cool shots, the camera is just tool, fancier tools make doing the job easier, but any tool gets the job done.
