Oh and that ram thing soundefx says is true reall frustrating but most new motherboards use 12800 ddr3 memory. ddr4 came out but I haven't even seen a stick yet. I'm waiting to get the Solid state drives that you place in the PC I ports... kind of like porn to me lol

Dual channel 1600/1866 ddr3 ram is the standard in pretty much all gaming PC motherboards.

If you go on newegg they have all the specs for every individual part listed below so you can build a system with that and use pcpartpicker to find the best prices.

I would not recommend building a PC on pcpartpicker alone if you're inexperienced because there's a serious lack of technical details without clicking into a bunch of other websites and using much more time than is necessary.

However, with that said there is nothing complicated about building a PC, until you get down to the cable management, that part isn't absolutely required to be done well though.

I'm not a real fan of AMD either, Intel always seems to be the superior choice when it comes to reviews.

Oh yeah intel is far better when it comes to processors. Xeon or Haswell i3-i7 imo. As a person who works on PC's daily and builds servers intel is always the way to go as far as reliability goes.

Xeon isn't particularly good for gaming, at least not as good as the i7. The Xeon is more server oriented.

I've said this a million times but I'll say it again. The thing that makes Intel better than amd is the fact that they have stronger/more powerful cores. Most games won't use anymore than 2 or 4 cores (usually 2) so by using amd's logic of "more cores=more power" you're just getting a bunch of cores you'll rarely use... And weaker individual cores.

Also this conversation has gotten all fucked up, building a PC is not this hard or technical, the market pretty much has everything laid out so all you have to do is decide what your budget is and just go buy shit based off reviews

Hrubs, scrap that turd (shitty case included) and start new, stop trying to keep an old piece of shit going

Maximum PC is a great tool if you have time to look they put out a monthly build for Budget, Normal, and Baller Budget gamers (not exactly those terms but yeah lol). been subscribed for a year now. really cool Mag.

think someone said it but PCPartPicker legitimately does it all for you... if you pick a cpu thats not compat. with a certain powersupply they'll give you X amount of options to choose that are compatible. its Cake like R13 said.. a monkey can do it .

It seems easy building a PC compared to cars but I just don't know what parts to buy. I like this PC, I can build off of it since I have no knowledge on what to buy.
I'll eventually opt for a new case and swap whatever good parts I invest into this one over to the new one and most likely return the things this one came with.

Find a 1990's case somewhere in the garbage (people throw them out all the time now) i have one its cool to see old but turn on and see win 10. but build off that, cases aren't that important honestly (check out the Deepcool TriStellar Black SPCC Computer Case when you get a chance).

it's real simple. Motherboard, Graphics Card, Processor, Hard drive. but i guess i feel that why with cars so i understand. i've been doing this computer stuff for years (only 21 so not many) but got into the car thing a month ago and am just sort of understanding elements. so i get you. but seriously Computers are ALOT less complicated if you're just trying to plug and play.... it's when you start wondering about DNS,DHCP, TCP/IP, VPS, Routing, or wonder about how the PC Turn binary into what you see, when you get confused and overwhelmed. lol but again i feel you on the comparison

A good case will go a long way in keeping your PC cool and alive.

Like the R4's I have or the phantoms that have dust filters.

Would not recommend cheaping out on cases unless you really just don't give two shits about how it looks/how cool it runs.

my surveillance PC's stay on 24/7 and they are in in a crappy dell case . and haven't given me one issue in the 4 months they've been on. with Xeon processors, low end fans and some nice seagate hard drives. if it's in a well vented area heat wont be an issue. you can pop open the case if needed, you should be dusting it one in awhile anyway. but there's watercooling for PC's now and everything. pretty hard to burn out a PC in reality unless you're playing LOL 24/7 in the attic on a 90 degree summer. lol but like cars. everyone has had a different experience

Cases aren't really expensive, aren't good ones like $60? That's cheap as hell compared to car parts..

like anything they range. but you can get a nice case for $40-$70 but great ones that look really cool and made of different material can go all the way up to 300-400 . there's always going to be that discrepancy with anything. ive seen one thats $4,000 lol JUST THE CASE. alienware is crazy.

edit: well the kid said it was worth that lol. but id say it was still up there around 1k or so.

Just buy a new iMac, faster than these "gaming" rigs, won't loose value, and won't give you any problems.
