Different grade bolts have different alloys and heat treatments. This means they have different hardnesses and shear strengths. Go buy honda bolts... it'll cost you $20-30.
8.8 grade is the best you can get from hardware stores. They are soft compared to automotive grade bolts.

i did mine 6 months ago with no complaints... i did put way more coats on than necessary. I ended up using 3 1/2 gallons of plastidip. I can scrub it and it doesnt peel any. I went with black though so i dont know about white.

I had this same problem with my old lug nuts... Had to turn the seat diameter down on a lathe. Thats the only real way to fix it with those lug nuts. (I later just made my own)

Dont buy grade 8 bolts. Those a really great if you are building a soap box car but wont hold up to any hard driving from a real car. Go get replacements from honda before you start. Sure they are $7 per but you do get what you pay for.

They are way over priced... buy the sprayer at home depot and gallons of it offline. They only thing is you will have to thin it out yourself with F740 Thinner,naphtha, xylene(what i used for a project), or toluene.
Also you will need a catch can if you use a spray gun like...
