Swap out the transmission for either an automatic or perform the auto to manual conversion. A rebuild is possible but almost as expensive as the auto to manual swap.

Installing a killswitch isn't expensive and nice to have from what I remember. Plenty of threads on the forum for those so you can get an idea.

I always have a 20 ounce bottle of soda or the slightly larger powerade and I stick them between the seat and the center console right before the seatbelt buckle. It works for me for short and long trips alike and the lady never complains either. :lol:
