Not to hi-jack but i was searching and found this post. I found the jumper and have a timing light. I just put in a new distributor. How do I know which mark on the crank is red? Mine have no color on them. I see 3 marks close together and one far away. Which mark should it be on? Thanks

I have a heavy foot and I get between 320 & 360 on roughly 12 gals. I usually dont try to run below a 1/4 tank because it isnt good for the fuel pump and it takes a few extra cranks for it to turn over when it's low.

Actually it can happen especially if it is left up for long periods of time! This is more the case with drum brakes rather then discs but it can still happen. Your pops is right on the money.
