    sounds like you need to replace your distributor(with an oem one of course) and that should take care of your check engine light and the missing, and yes if your check engine light is on vtec will not engage(on a stock ecu). so get a new distributor and have fun:thumbsup:

    this is all good information but unless he has about a thousand dollars to spend at a machine shop to assemble the bottom end, check for clearances, and balance the rotating assembly, he should be fine revving to 7800. ive built enough b20 vtec motors to know from experience.

    yes it will out perform a b16a keep your shifts under 8k and you will bee fine

    this is a graph of my car before and after tuning(the red line is tuned). i am very happy with the difference in low to mid range power i picked up. try to guess where vtec is set.

    i do preload my axels and my 2 step is set at 5400, my best 60' on street tires is 2.24 and i ran a 14.9 at 95mph that pass. im not calling you a liar but maybe he is about his whp claims. i live in texas btw and i dont think the sea level has that big of an effect.

    what chassis did he make 166whp and run 13.9s, in a gutted hatch? im making 172whp and 120ftlbs in a full bodied 95 gsr and im finding it tough to get into the mid 14's on street tires.

    where did you "see" this at and what was the setup? the only difference (besides size) in the b18 and b20 sleeves is that the b18 has individual sleeves and the b20 is one piece. doesnt make it any weaker or thinner.
